The decision of No more Fast Food

We have been thinking with my wife that we have a problem with food, lately we have been eating too much food at the fast food joints; and we are spending too much money by eating there! Hence we came to a decision that is to try to cut back on the consumption of fast food .

The decision came on a talk with my wife while we were on our way back from Houston , TX. We have been thinking that eating fast food more than once a month is not a good thing, but we are by far close to that goal. In order to reach that goal we have decided to take some measurements:

Auto-Reward Program: We have decided to give ourselves money to spend on whatever we want on our tight budget if we don't eat out in fast food joints and we eat slow food or better choice food. The reward program works this way:
  1. First week: We get nothing but feel good about ourselves.
  2. Second week: At the end of the second week we are entitle 25 bucks for whatever we want
  3. Third week: We have the choice to either not eat fast food for another 2 weeks or we could eat one meal of FF and go back to week 1.
  4. Forth week: Since this is a mayor milestone 1 month without Fast food we get ourselves 50 bucks to spend (the total gotten now is 75 bucks to spend on whatever we want)
  5. Fifth week: The choice now is to get back to week one or carry out 2 more weeks.
  6. Sixth week: now there should be about 45 days without fast food. We think that with the money saved we could treat ourselves with a nice dinner for two at a nice restaurant. plus some money?? (we haven decided yet)
The Strategy: Our strategy to reach this goal is:
  1. The consumption of Slow food: When we have time we will cook and put on the fridge some portions to take to work the following day.
  2. The control of our eating: Specially when we are at with friends and outside our place. Just eat one or two slices of pizza, just one course on a restaurant and stuff like that.
  3. The making choice of better foods: Since the time is short we have decided to eat tv dinners (Lean cuisine) instead of go out for buggers at lunch time when we are working. we are also thinking on bringing the left overs from the day before and eat more fruit.
So that is the plan. we help we can make it since we have already made plans to use the money and of course the money still comes from ourselves but in a budget were we are trying to pay our debts and only food we hope that the change can guide us on a better direction, economically and health-wise too.
